Welcome to the blog! Here you will find my favourite first edits of recent weddings and events and other miscellaneous images from whatever grabs my attention. Thanks for looking and hope you like the images.

On many Facebook pages a lot of photographers - me included - put on a selection of their very best images from either a single wedding, or a showcase of selected images to give an indication of their style of shooting a wedding. I have been asked a few times by brides making an enquiry to see a complete wedding - that is, all the images that the couple have selected to go into their album. So, here they are - this was the wedding of Helen and Paul who wanted a full day - 12 hours - to capture all the various events of the day but especially the evening dancing. It was a great wedding and at the end of it I really felt that I had been privileged to have been included into their world for a brief moment in time.
This was also the first time I had been back to the Alderley Edge Hotel for quite some time and it was great to work with some of the best people in the wedding business in Cheshire once again.

I recently had the opportunity to shoot Jess Ennis over a day in Manchester and Sheffield. Over the years I have been lucky to work with some of the top sportsmen and women - some nice , some not so nice - working with Jess was an absolute pleasure and despite the weather - guess what , it rained in manchester !! - she was enthusiastic and really engaged with the participants. It was through a similar scheme that she starting in athletics. Some great questions from the kids too - "do you have a butler?" - do you live in a mansion?" - have you raced Usain Bolt?" - made for an interesting day and one which Im sure they will not forget. Heres a small selection of the images from the day - and with this years world champs starting this weekend I wish Jess the best of luck.

Amy and Andrews wedding in Bowden was one of the most fun, colourful and energetic weddings I have had the privilage to cover. When we met at the synagogue some months previously they assured me that the function room would look nothing like it did then - and they were right - here are a few of my favs from the day.

After what seems to have been the longest winter in history - I probably say that every year - Im so looking forward to the start of my wedding season next weekend - two weddings on the bounce on saturday and sunday. It will be quite strange to be shooting the day after the royal wedding as Im sure most people will have watched the ceremony the day before. I was quite amazed that William and Kate have chosed one of the "old guard" to shoot their wedding - as a documentary photographer the scope for some amazing images would be fantastic -and there are so many great documentary wedding photographers out there now from all over the world that they would have some truly memorable images rather than the endless group shots that they will no doubt end up with. Mind you Im sure that they wont be wanting everything on a disc !!

I have recently been commissioned to provide Bang and Olufsen in Wilmslow with images for their new viewing room which features a fantastic cinema screen tv with amazing sound quality - as you would expect ! Although I would rather shoot on location, sometimes its just more practical to stay indoors with clean backgrounds, so these images were shot in my studio.

In January - a freezing cold January if I remember rightly - I was at the wonderful Rowton Castle near Shrewsbury - to document the wedding of Lois and Gareth. As soon as I met Lois I knew this would be a great wedding, giving me a free reign to shoot the day as it unfolded, and no group shots although I did suggest that when there was a little time later on we could do a few ( 6 at the most ) - they had taken over the whole place and had personalised it by placing personal photographs around the hotel which gave the whole day a real intimate feeling. Added to that a table full of sweets - flying saucers, fruit salads, flumps etc etc - so we had some great fun getting the children off the ceiling when it came to the meal !
Here are some of my favourite images of the day.

A little over 2 years ago I was fortunate (or mad) enough to travel to the Antarctic to cover a marathon (yep - 42km) and 100km race ! The winner of the marathon took a little over four and a half hours in pretty good conditions - it was only minus 20C for the race and the winner of the 100km race took twelve hours !
The base is set up every year approx 600km from the south pole and is used as base for a variety of purposes - the kite skier in these images made it to the south pole in 5 days dragging his pod behind him which is pretty impressive !!
Here are some of the images from what turned out to be an amazing 2 weeks (including an enforced stay of an extra 7 days over xmas due to high winds which meant it was impossible to get the plane in from Chile to take us home)
